Senator Roméo Dallaire at Glenbow
by Lorain Lounsberry, Senior Curator, Cultural History
LGen. Roméo Dallaire (ret'd) brought an audience with him when he visited Glenbow Museum to see Darfur/Darfur, the multi-media exhibit. A champion for human rights and genocide prevention, Dallaire was in town March 16, 2008 as keynote speaker for Calgary's chapter of Engineers Without Borders at Jack Singer Hall.
Dallaire gave an inspirational talk, encouraging the audience to become informed and to take action in support of human rights. He referred to the desperate need in Darfur numerous times and about 100 members of his audience walked with him after his address to see Darfur/Darfur exhibited on Glenbow's north façade. Dallaire continued sharing his thoughts on human rights with an appreciative audience in Glenbow's lobby.
