Diaries and notebooks. -- 1856-1930. -- 18 cm of textual records. -- The series consists of volumes written by Thomas Mower Martin, which describe his daily activities, progress on paintings, and also include such things as art sketches; drafts of essays, poetry, literary, and religious writings; financial accounts; lists of carpentry and building supplies; gardening notes (lists of plants and flowers); sketches and descriptions of inventions; and lists of letters received. The 1859-1962 volume (M-8931-2) includes a list of projected costs for a move to Canada. He frequently re-used earlier volumes, by writing in the blank pages at a later date. Includes several "mss" notebooks, and also several of his published religious and philosophical tracts.

Francis Martin's diary. -- 1827-1846. -- Consists of a diary of his "Garter Mission" to Russia, Denmark, Sweden, Prussia, and Germany (1827). The volume also includes his account of visits to Herefordshire and Northern Wales (1828-1829), and his time at Goodrich Court (1830-1946).

Ted Harbert's memoirs of Thomas Mower Martin. -- 1983-1987. -- 6 cm of textual records. -- Edward T. Herbert of Calgary, grandson of Thomas Mower Martin, inherited his grandfather's papers from his cousin Eleanor May Martin, and with them the task of preparing a short life history for the family. -- The series consists of his letters to his cousins re status of the memoirs, and both drafts and final versions of the memoir.
