Bartlett, John
M-4843-287Diary : 1790-1793, 1795. - [Photocopied ca. 1972]. - 2 cm of textual records. - Bartlett was a member of the crew of the ship Massachusets, an American merchant ship sailing from Boston to Vancouver Island and the Queen Charlotte Islands via Canton, then back to Canton via the Sandwich Islands. After altercations with natives, he then joined the Elenoro, a whaling ship bound back to the United States via Madagascar. Diary describes native customs and the seafaring life. Photocopied from original document held at the Peabody Museum, Salem, Mass.
