Discovery Room

We are currently recruiting volunteers for Saturdays and Sundays in the ARC Discovery Room. Our second floor art-based open studio is a place where visitors can take a hand at their creative side, making crafts based on feature exhibitions. The ARC Discovery Room provides activities for all ages and interests.Visitors learn about our collections in fun, hands-on activities. Volunteers work with staff to greet visitors, prepare materials, answer questions, and demonstrate how to complete the activities. If you enjoy a fast-paced environment and love arts and crafts, this opportunity is for you!

Shifts take place Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00pm to 4:00pm, October to May, with volunteers commiting to at least two shifts each month. This position is suitable for volunteers aged 14 and up.

Library and Archives - Newspaper Clipping

We are recruiting Newspaper Clipping volunteers to assist with the maintenance of our newspaper files which are used by staff, researchers and the general public

Shift times are flexible between Tuesdays and Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Newspaper Clipping volunteer positions are suitable for youth over 18, and adults who enjoy a library environment. Candidates should have good organizational skills, be attentive to detail and be willing to take direction. Experience in a library setting is an asset, but not a requirement.

Museum Gift Shop - Customer Service Assistants

We are seeking outgoing, enthusiastic volunteers to assist our Museum Gift Shop staff. Tasks include assisting with pricing, counting, and tagging of merchandise, understanding and suggesting merchandise items to customers, helping to arrange and maintain display shelves, packaging customer purchases, etc.  Individuals should have a genuine interest in volunteering in a retail setting, the ability to work well with all staff and visitors, an outgoing, helpful personality and the ability to make the regular commitment of service as required. Prior experience in a retail environment is an asset, but not preferred. Training is provided.

These are long-term, ongoing volunteer positions.

There are two available shifts:
Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (this is a weekly role)
Saturday, 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., bi-weekly (this is a shared role)

Museum Gift Shop Volunteer positions are suitable for youth over 18, and adults.

Special Events

Glenbow is hosting an array of Special Events, from Member’s Openings for feature exhibitions to Artist’s Talks, and we are looking for a team of volunteers that will be available to assist on these special occasions. Many of these events occur on evenings and weekends, so flexibility is an asset. Volunteers will not be expected to attend every Special Event, however will be conatacted as part of a team list. Specific roles for these events may vary, but volunteers will be on hand to serve as ambassadors for the Glenbow Museum, greeting visitors and performing assigned tasks. This role provides an excellent opportunity to work alongside artists, curators, and Glenbow visitors.
