ARC Discovery Room
The ARC Discovery Room is the perfect place for visitors of all ages to enjoy art activities and explore the ideas featured in Glenbow exhibitions.
The ARC Discovery Room is open to the public daily during museum hours, but may be closed for private groups and school bookings. Please ask at the admission desk or call ahead to inquire about closures.
The activities listed below will be available from February 8 to May 4, 2014.
Current activities are:
Compact Disc Art
Once again we turn to the Made in Calgary series for inspiration as we transform a physical medium from the 1990s - the compact disc - into a creative art project. You'll use acrylic paint markers to create Mandala designs on the CDs. The paint can then be scratched away in various patterns, revealing the reflective surface for a very pleasing affect.
Mini Leather Jackets
As you'll see in Worn to Be Wild, a big theme of the exhibition is the use of leather as a artistic canvas. Make your own little masterpiece by decorating miniature "pleather" jackets with various art supplies.
Explorations in Art
There's a lot to discover in Worn to Be Wild: The Black Leather Jacket exhibition, and our exploration guide offers fascinating facts about this garment came to be the ultimate symbol for cool in music, fashion, television and movies. Pick up an activity sheet in the Discovery Room and, once you've completed it, turn it in to compete for a prize. A great activity for the whole family.
