The Gospel According to André
André Leon Talley has been a fixture in the world of fashion for so long that it's difficult to imagine a time when he wasn't defining the boundaries of great style. This film takes viewers on an emotional journey from André's roots growing up in the segregated Jim Crow South to become one of the most influential tastemakers and fashion curators of our times. Featuring commentary from fashion luminaries including Anna Wintour, Marc Jacobs and Tom Ford, The Gospel According to André is an indispensable addition to the growing canon of fashion documentary. PG 13 - 94 minutes Dir Kate Novack 2018.
Westwood: Punk Icon Activist
Since igniting the punk movement with ex-partner and Sex Pistols' manager Malcolm McLaren, Dame Vivienne Westwood has been redefining British fashion for over 40 years and is responsible for creating many of the most distinctive looks of recent time. Blending archival footage and insightful interviews a portrait emerges of Vivienne's fascinating network of collaborators, taking viewers on her journey -- from a childhood in postwar Derbyshire to the runways of Paris and Milan. NR - 83 minutes Dir. Lorna Tucker 2018.
Kusama: Infinity
This documentary explores contemporary artist Yayoi Kusama’s journey from a conservative upbringing in Japan to her brush with fame in America during the 1960s — where she rivaled Andy Warhol for press attention — and concludes with the international fame she finally achieved within the art world, in spite of her battles with sexism, racism, and mental illness. PG- 76 min. Dir Heather Lenz 2018.
