Through the month of May, Calgarians will have a chance to celebrate the contributions of Calgary's diverse Asian Canadian communities. Explore our cultural diversity through special Asian-themed programs at the museum.

Bring the entire family and enjoy special Asian-themed activities and performances! Participate in some laughter yoga, model a colourful sari, try some henna decorations and create a craft.

A Feast for the Senses: India

Meet in Glenbow's main lobby at 5:30 p.m. then travel to Rajdoot restaurant

Start your evening with an exclusive tour of Glenbow's exhibition Many Faces, Many Paths: Art of Asia. Then, join Vine and Dine's Linda Garson at Rajdoot. There, delight in the colours, tastes and textures of traditional Indian cuisine in this exclusive wine tasting and food sampling.

VESAK - Buddha's Birthday Celebration

Vesak is Buddha's birthday, which falls on the full moon day in May. On this day, Buddha was born, attained enlightenment and passed away. Among Asia's Buddhist community, Vesak is the most important
and biggest celebration.

Drop by Glenbow throughout the day to experience the Vesak celebration, which includes the bathing of baby Buddha and a prayer
ceremony performed by a Buddhist monk. The celebration concludes at 7 p.m. with birthday cake and Buddha's life stories narrated by two local professional actors. Join in the celebration!

Online Exhibitions

Seven Stories profiles the fascinating stories of seven Calgarians, originally from Southeast Asia, who chose Western Canada as their new home. This new on-line exhibit invites you to share their personal stories through photographs, audio and text - how they left their land of birth, the challenges they faced, and the new roots they have found in Canada.
