It is essential that adult supervisors familiarize their group with proper museum conduct to ensure the safety of the displays and the comfort of other visitors. Glenbow visitors come from all around the world and are of all ages. All visitors appreciate the opportunity to view Glenbow's collections in a safe, quiet environment, for this reason all visitors must follow the guidelines listed below.
A ratio of 1 adult supervisor for every 5 children/youths is required. One adult supervisor is required for every ten students aged 13 to 15 years and one adult supervisor is required for every fifteen students aged 16 to 18 years. Please divide your group into smaller sub-groups each with an adult supervisor. Please make sure your small group stays together at all times.
- Do Not Touch anything on display unless there is a "Please Touch" sign. Please be gentle with the objects you are allowed to touch. Touching even the most stable objects can cause irreparable damage, for example, finger prints contain oil and acids which are harmful to surfaces including metal armour.
- Leave all coats, back packs, and bags in the coat check room.
- Walk, Don't Run.
- Use Quiet, Indoor Voices.
- Do Not Disturb School Programs in Progress
- No Gum, Food or Drink
- Write/Draw with Pencils Only
- Listen to Glenbow Staff - they are very helpful if you are lost, have a question or if you forget one of the rules listed above.
- Groups wishing to do hands-on activities in the Discovery Room require advance booking. Call 268-4110 or email bookings(at)glenbow(dot)org for more information or to book.
These rules help make everybody's visit an enjoyable experience and at the same time help protect the artifacts for future visitors. Any visitor who shows repeated disregard for the above guidelines may be asked to leave.
