(Science, Social Studies)

Explore the world of an archaeologist and learn about the people who lived here from the time of the First Nations to today. This hands-on dig program provides your students with the opportunity to examine how people's lifestyles change over time. Examine artifacts from the people who lived on this land - Natives, fur traders, settlers, and a family in the 1950s. Explore questions like: How does archaeology help us understand people? What objects were used by the people in different eras? How do objects inform us about the lives of others? How have things changed over time?

Where do they come from?  These are some of the questions we will explore as we develop our skills of observation and classification.  Students will examine the three rock types:  sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous in an attempt to understand the similarities and differences in each.  We will also look at differences between rocks and minerals while we learn about some important uses for minerals found in rocks.
