Shaping the Future of Calgary and the Arts

George & Colleen Bezaire

Stories

With a love of arts and culture, George and Colleen Bezaire have been active supporters of Glenbow since 2006. George Bezaire served on Glenbow’s Board of Governors from 2006 through 2016, and as Board Chair from 2009 to 2011. In 2017 he was inducted as a Glenbow Fellow for his outstanding contributions to humanities, arts and science and for supporting the museum’s work in the community.

The Bezaire’s recent gift to the Glenbow Reimagined project is an investment in the future of Calgary and the arts. Their support will help transform Glenbow into a cultural hub that brings people and communities together in an engaging space that inspires creativity and sparks cultural exchange and conversations.

In recognition of their gift, the feature gallery on the third floor of the newly renovated museum will be named The Bezaire Family Gallery. The 6,400-square-foot exhibition space will feature a rotating collection of art. “The exciting part of the third-floor naming is that the art will constantly change, just like in life,” says Colleen Bezaire. “We believe it is important to share the arts and to recognize artists and their work. We hope the new building will bring visitors from around the world to Calgary and Glenbow.”

“Covid taught us how empty our lives felt being home and void of the arts. I never realized the impact of the arts until we returned to the things we loved and how much we missed them.”
