In-Person Programs on Hiatus
Glenbow is in the midst of an extensive building renovation and program revitalization that will completely transform learning experiences and opportunities. Our facilitated learning programs are on hiatus and our building will remain closed to the public until 2027.

Future Programs
Glenbow is developing a suite of new school and education programming to support teachers and educators in delivering exceptional learning experiences aligned with school curricula. Many new programs are also aligned with STEAM learning outcomes.
Booking of school programs will be available following Glenbow’s reopening in its revitalized home, the JR Shaw Centre for Arts & Culture, with programs launching the following semester or season.
Digital Learning Resources
While the museum is closed, Glenbow’s team has created classroom activities and digital resources available for download.
Art Activities
These resources, which can be used digitally or printed, focus on artworks from Glenbow’s collection and invite students to explore different perspectives and ideas. There are 11 activities available with six artworks and new activities will be added throughout the year.
Mavericks
This program explores almost 40 different “Mavericks” who made Alberta what it is today, drawing from Glenbow primary source material. Students can explore individuals from diverse backgrounds who were part of Alberta’s history. Ready-to-use project plans and classroom ideas have been developed by Alberta teachers and may be easily adapted to the needs of any group of students.
What’s Next
Glenbow is targeting a 2027 reopening in its revitalized home, the JR Shaw Centre for Arts & Culture. The renovated building will offer more than 50 new gallery, exhibition, and programming spaces, including a new classroom, lunchroom, and studio spaces.
