Glenbow Museum and Afrikadey! Arts & Culture Society joined forces to produce Story Keepers – a video series exploring personal stories relating to Black history in Alberta and across the country. We’re having conversations with innovators, creators and culture makers whose work draws on history in order to build the future.

In this episode, Motola Dawodu, assistant artistic director at Afrikadey, and Galasa Aden talk about the way food – when it’s made with love – brings us together to share stories of history, culture and creativity (like all powerful art does).

More about Galasa Aden

A born-and-bred Calgarian, Chef Galasa Aden found his passion for cooking while studying to become an engineer. For three years, he honed his craft at River Café, under the mentorship of Chef Matthias Fong. In 2018, Galasa moved to River Café’s sister restaurant, Deane House, where he led the kitchen as Chef de Cuisine. Galasa served as Executive Chef at Cliffhanger Restaurant in Invermere BC from November 2019 to February 2021. He is also a contestant on Top Chef Canada Season 9, which airs on the Food Network starting on March 19, 2021.
