Today, for #GlenbowFromHome we are taking you on a virtual tour of a photographic sculpture titled Regard that was made in 1999 by Vancouver-based artist and professor Jin-me Yoon.

Yoon’s work is primarily focused on issues of place and identity. This sculpture is an example of Yoon’s exploration of displacement and representation in the context of Canadian settler nationalism.

In this tour, Jin-me Yoon and Glenbow’s curatorial assistant Travis Lutley have a conversation about Yoon’s artistic intentions. In the process, they raise interesting points about why art matters for everybody.

This sculpture is on display on Glenbow’s second floor in the exhibition On Location: Artists Explore a Sense of Place.
